BIO 323 Modern Genetics and Genomic Course

Each year during the winter semester we teach a course in modern genetic analysis for third year students. The course involves weekly lectures and journal clubs during which the students discuss recent advances in genetics, seven weeks of day-long practical exercise in different areas of genetic analysis ranging from forensic science to the use of chip technology in whole genome analysis. During this course, students also conduct independent research project in small groups. |
BIO 326 Developmental Biology course

In the summer semester we teach a general course in developmental biology for third year students. The course involves weekly lectures and journal clubs during which students read and discuss milestone publications in the field of developmental biology. Students participate in a seven week long practical course during which they are introduced to the use of different vertebrate and invertebrate model systems for the study of basic processes in development. Concomitantly, small groups of 2 to 3 students have the opportunity to participate in current research activities in our group. |
