Entry of Ad2-ts1 into HeLa cells.  Ts1 is defective at endosome escape due to a point mutation P137L in the L3/p23 open reading frame which encodes the cysteine protease.
A. Internalization of ³⁵S-methionine labeled ts1 measured by cell surface trypsinization, SDS-PAGE and fluorography.
B. Progressive degradation of ts1 after 40 to 60 min of infection, as measured by scintillation counting of TCA soluble ³⁵S-methionine.
C. No fiber release from ts1 and degradation of ts1 up to 40 min post infection (see also Fig. 11).  Modified from (1).
