Yuan was born in China. After obtaining her bachelor's degree in biology, she joined the Gilmour lab in May 2022 as a Master Student and is studying how two key downstream effectors of FGFR: Erk/MAPK (Sos) and RhoA (ARHGEF25) work in zebrafish bi-layered epidermis, aiming to find the linkage between cell fate and tissue organization.

In her free time, Yuan likes to read books, cuddle cats, and feed the swans in the lake of Zurich.
