Kara was born in Aarau, Switzerland. She did her apprenticeship as a Lab-technician at eawag, the swiss aquatic research center in Dübendorf.  After that she worked there for 1 year and took care of the new trainees and worked in cellculture ( fish cell lines ) and did a lot of molec and histology work on zebrafish.

She is working in the Group of Stephan Neuhauss for over 13years as lab-manager and zebrafish-facility manger. Once in a while she is taking care of trainees ( lab-technicians and animal care takers, zebrafish part ).

In her freetime she is taking care of her kids, garden and house. She loves books and enjoys hiking.
