Martina comes from canton Schwyz and studied Biologie at the University of Zurich. During her studies she was most fascinated by the Neurobiology lectures and courses and therefore joined the Stoeckli group for a Master project. Since she appreciated the work and the atmosphere in the group, she continued with the PhD. Her research focuses on a diverse spectrum of proteins including APP (Amyloid Precursor Protein), Neurotrypsin, Agrin, Dystroglycan, Endoglycan, Drebrin, Semaphorin6B and Syntaxin, in order to understand their role in neural circuit formation. To do so, she uses in ovo RNAi and quantifies the impact of the silencing on the migration of the dI1 axons in vivo and further analyzes the mechanism in vitro. In her free time, Martina likes to attend the super-kondi class and enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
